ABA Therapy In Maryland
In-home ABA therapy in Maryland is a highly effective and individualized approach that we offer throughout the entire state of MD by bringing therapy into your chil’ds most comfortable environment for learning.
Our Approach to Home Programming
Individuals are able to receive services as early as 18 months of age when diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. We continue to work with children, teens and adults. With our Initial Evaluation, we assess areas of need in your child’s everyday life and create goal-based objectives to help your child acquire skills that are significant to him/her and your family.
In Home ABA Therapy
The acquisition and maintenance of new skills and behaviors are best learned in the setting in which those skills will most often be used. For your child, this place is the home. Working on skills in-home provides your child a fantastic spring board for the acquisition of desired behaviors.
At HL, we take a very systematic, yet fun, approach to home programming. We utilize the full home environment so children learn to generalize skills quickly and effectively.
Community Based ABA Therapy
ABA Therapy in the community is an opportunity for learners to generalize skills learned during home-based ABA Therapy and also provides additional learning opportunities for daily living skills and social skills. HL can also support your child in a private daycare/pre-school setting with permission from your child’s daycare/pre-school.
Parent and Family Training
We want you to play an active role in your child’s services. Parent Training refers to involving the parents and/or caregivers in the learner’s ABA therapy. While it is often referred to as “Parent Training,” we encourage all members of the family to get involved! HL empowers and equips family members with the tools needed to confidently address and modify target behaviors by applying ABA therapy principles. A learner’s extended exposure to best practices in the field of ABA helps them generalize acquired skills with the people they are with most often – their family!
A highly qualified BCBA will conduct family training by explaining effective teaching procedures, modeling the expected response for the parent(s) or caregiver(s), and answering questions or providing explanations for theory behind best teaching practices in ABA. The goal of family training is to help parents and caregivers seize “teachable moments” throughout the natural course of a day and help to keep instruction consistent across teaching sessions and settings. Parent involvement is highly emphasized in all of HL’s ABA programs.
